Trust Me, You Should Really Go Ahead Of Me
I'm working on my first ever rap song. Although I'm not sure if "rap song" is even a thing. Should I just say "rap?"
FYI, I'm white.
Anyway, here are the lyrics I have so far:
Made my stop in my mad Merced
Lady to my right waves, "Go ahead"
But it was rude so I shot her dead
Filled her Taurus all full of lead
With this rap (and/or song), I hope to address one of the hot-button social issues of our day: The "go ahead" wave we give each other at intersections. Now, I have no problem with using hand gestures to prevent fender benders, but I have a giant problem with the attitude behind a lot of these waves. Most of the waves I've received lately are not polite gestures of deference, but rather, didactic gestures of irritation. Worse, this superior attitude often comes from people who, in fact, have the right-of-way and need to get their fat asses going.
What can we do about this? Well, I'm taking a multi-pronged approach. First, I'm writing a rap song that encourages people to shoot these people dead. Second, I'm vowing to proceed as slowly as possible through all intersections that I am waved through. And finally, when I get the petulant wave from pedestrians (who, of course, have the right-of-way), I'm going to hit them a little with my car.
