The Spoils of Warhol

Let’s play another round of “Which Way Should We Take It?”

News Item:
“One of Andy Warhol's 13 silkscreens of Elizabeth Taylor has sold at auction for $12.6 million.”

Ways We Could Take It:

  • Headline: Some Insane Apparently Not Homeless At All
  • Headline: Andy Warhol Still Sucks, Still Dead, Still Raking It In
  • In other news, Elizabeth Taylor herself has sold at auction for $12.60.  Winning bidder says, “She smells like diamonds!”
  • Economists report that 13 silkscreens, multiplied by $12,600,000, equals enough money to solve the AIDS crisis in Africa, build Disney Iceland, and clone Leonardo da Vinci.
  • In a related item, real artists everywhere are dying of envy.  Experts say malnutrition also may have been a factor in several of the deaths.
  • Rita Shelby, famed collector of avant-garde art, was overheard saying, “Imagine if he had only made eight!”
  • Joe Wilcox, owner of Joe’s T-Shirt Shak in Cleveland, claims he can silkscreen for millions less.
  • Today in New York, Andy Warhol’s “15 minutes of fame” postulate was proven categorically false.  Writers of news magazine lead-ins vowed not to notice.

Okay, let me know which way we should take this.  I’m going to forward this item to eBay, who is inexplicably still refusing to let me auction my turds.
