Happiness Is... Service Pack 2
I finally upgraded my laptop to XP Service Pack 2 last night, mostly
because I could no longer stand to say no to Microsoft's dire warnings
that I didn't have the latest security. I just didn't have the
heart to turn the computer down anymore.
I have noticed a trend that everything that Microsoft puts out now
is aimed at someone with the mental capacity of a sea mollusk.
After successfully installing the service pack, I was confronted with a
screen asking if I wanted to turn on automatic updates. I'm
reciting from memory here, but it said something like:
Do you want to turn on Automatic Updates, or would you like to
just put your computer in a box and send it directly to the
HaCkeRzz? BECAUSE THEY WILL TAKE OVER YOUR COMPUTER! THEY
WILL!!
To turn on Automatic Updates click on the yellow happy face. Otherwise click on the picture of the rotting corpse :(
Call me crazy but I felt like I was being pushed toward Automatic
Updates for some reason. Clicking the rotting corpse just brought
up more warnings:
You may not be aware of this, but you clicked the rotting
corpse! Wouldn't you prefer a nice happy face, or perhaps a
fluffy puppy?
Needless to say I am now a proud member of the Automatic Update club. I mean who doesn't like fluffy puppies?
